Ashes of the Red Hills

For six hundred years the ashes of the Red Hills have buried the dead of the countless wars fought over its slopes. The fates of empires have been decided over the ash, and the uncountable bodies of the fallen are caked beneath layer after layer of embers and cinder; each battle creating a new layer of morbidity. No animals dare live in that most terrible place, and no plants can grow save for patches of grass that have learned to drink the blood that so frequently waters the soil. To the empires of the east, the hills have been a necessary strategic location to their greedy expansions. But to the Dark God, the place is naught but a delightful playground. As new blood soaks the earth, and the carnage reaches its zenith, it is said unspeakable laughter can be heard echoing across the ash.
